The content, learning, and assignments for this week in our Journalism class felt really fun and creative! Initially, I was pretty nervous about our video assignment for our unit 2 traditional reporting assignment. At first I wasn’t sure where to start, how I wanted to craft, style, and edit the video, and what I thought I should include. After doing a lot of brainstorming, writing down short pieces, and recording and deleting audio recordings, I ended up enjoying the entire process of crafting the video. What I had wanted to convey and capture became more clear and easy to piece together after attending the gallery and getting footage from the exhibit. I had a really fun time at the exhibit and felt super lucky to have been able to capture footage from the very last exhibit from the PAU gallery. I was really sad to hear that they were closing down, but was glad to be able to attend one last time and use it as a story. I also have been enjoying watching my classmate’s video repor...

Week 6 Blog

We have just finished out week 6 of our journalism course and I am very excited about it! I feel as if we are really pushing through this semester, and really pushing ourselves and seeing how much work we are able to handle under such a short period of time. I personally have had to dedicate a lot of my time to this course to make sure I stay on track with due dates and am producing quality work. I do feel as if I am growing a lot in this class and am surprised as well as proud of myself for being disciplined and dedicated to learning and growing in this course. I hope my peers are doing well and are learning, expanding, and enjoying this semester in all of their classes. I felt like the reading topic for this week was very important and relevant in the world we live in. It is extremely important to be respectful, mindful, and politically correct when interacting with and talking to others, and even more important to do this when writing stories in journalism where the informatio...

Whew! It sure is a whirlwind of a semester, and time is flying by fast. I feel like I am gaining a lot of information from this class. This includes writing skills, reading skills, time management skills, and much more. I definitely feel the urge of growing more self discipline in this course, as there is much to do to keep up with the due dates. Nonetheless, it is all a learning experience!      We have just finished out our first traditional reporting assignment. I had a lot of fun with this assignment, but also can see points where I can do better in the future. For this assignment, I got to utilize my chosen beat of culture and picked up on Paia’s water sport culture. To do this and delve into the community, I attended beachfest and watched and interacted with the contestants and the people who were there to just watch the contest in general. There was a great sense of community here, and I am very glad I was able to be a part of it and cover that ...
