Week 10/Spring Break Blog

This week is spring break, and although we were not required to create a blog posting this week I figured I would play catch up and make an extra posting! Having this current week off in terms of school work was absolutely refreshing and recharging. The extra time from spring break also allowed me extra time to work on my podcast, which I just turned in today. I had so much fun talking with the guest that I spoke with in my podcast, and getting to listen to her music. I had selected a couple of pieces of the artist’s piano songs to use in my podcast, and had a wonderful time listening to all of her samples and choosing my favorite ones. Having the discussion about art with the artist also made me excited to get back in touch with my love for art, which I definitely have been neglecting over the past couple of weeks. The artist that I spoke with wants to create a creative space with interactive art and immersive experiences, which is very similar to the immersive Van Gogh exhibit that I discussed in one of my previous blog posts. I was very excited to hear this news, as I hope to have my own art in exhibits one day. I would love to collaborate with this artist in the future and create an immersive experience with my own art. It was great to make this creative connection with her.

Speaking of immersive experiences, a new interactive gallery is making its way to Oahu this summer! “Beyond Monet: The Immersive Experience” opens on June 15th in Honolulu, hosted at the Hawai‘i Convention Center. This art gallery exhibit will be the same concept as the immersive Van Gogh experience, with art projections on the walls, ceilings, and floors, audio recordings, and informational videos pertaining to the artist Monet. I was super excited to hear that this art experience was coming around to the islands, and I really hope to be able to get over to Oahu to attend the interactive gallery. The art world is ever changing and always finding new ways to break barriers and challenge creation, and this natural ambition is seen in the way that art galleries are evolving. Immersive experiences were not easy to come by a year ago, but now we are seeing more pop up events like this across the country. It is going to be incredible to see how the art world continues to change and evolve over time. It also makes me wonder about all of the new ways that we will be able to enjoy and consume art in the future. There really are no limits and people are so creative. Seeing so many immersive experiences like this makes me hopeful to be able to turn my own art into an immersive experience someday, as well as gives me more creative ideas on how to share and have people enjoy art. Here’s to growth in art culture!
