Week 10/Spring Break Blog

Image
This week is spring break, and although we were not required to create a blog posting this week I figured I would play catch up and make an extra posting! Having this current week off in terms of school work was absolutely refreshing and recharging. The extra time from spring break also allowed me extra time to work on my podcast, which I just turned in today. I had so much fun talking with the guest that I spoke with in my podcast, and getting to listen to her music. I had selected a couple of pieces of the artist’s piano songs to use in my podcast, and had a wonderful time listening to all of her samples and choosing my favorite ones. Having the discussion about art with the artist also made me excited to get back in touch with my love for art, which I definitely have been neglecting over the past couple of weeks. The artist that I spoke with wants to create a creative space with interactive art and immersive experiences, which is very similar to the immersive Van Gogh exhibit ...

It’s the last week before spring break, and boy is the semester absolutely flying by. I am definitely grateful for the smaller workload for this current week, as it gives us more time to really think about and prepare our podcasts. I am actually pretty excited about the podcast assignment, and have spent some time thinking about the different angles that I might want to approach this podcast at. The feedback from everyone involved in this course has definitely been incredibly helpful. I have settled on making my podcast centered around art and art history. For my podcast I am going to be interviewing an artist friend of mine, who is very passionate about playing the piano and wants to make a living out of this. I am really excited to hear what she has to say, and to share her words with the class. The artist that I plan to interview is named Tash. Tash is currently going after a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts with a focus on music theory. She has been playing the piano her ent...

This week in our journalism class felt like a nice relaxing breath after finishing out our second unit assignment, which was the video report. For me, the video report felt like a lot of work, editing, and reviewing. On top of that, I wasn’t really used to the adobe video editing process as I am not the most tech savvy. However, I felt very happy and accomplished to knock another unit assignment out of the way. I feel like we are all accomplishing a lot this semester, and are all working very hard. After having a unit assignment due in such a short period, this week’s work load felt much more doable and easier to manage. I really enjoyed reading everyone’s podcast ideas and suggestions, and spent some time brainstorming my own ideas for a podcast. I think that this will be the most fun assignment thus far in this class. I also think that everyone’s ideas for the podcast are very unique, and that this assignment will allow a lot of room for creativity. I am really excited about tw...
